Four Minute Cinema: Now, Even

From 1965 to the early seventies, “four-minute cinema”, the product of revolutionary commitment, swept across Latin America. Embracing scarce resources, it harnessed extreme precarity to invent a new language, ignoring the traditional film system and committing to an urgent cinema that was fast in its making, distribution and immediate impact.

The program includes the screening of found footage and archive-based films as Santiago Álvarez’s Now! (1965), Laura Waddington’s Still (2009) and the recently restored La Paz, made by the Grupo Cine Liberación and María Elena Massolo in 1968.
